AUBURN, Ind. (WANE)  A Fort Wayne man is facing charges after police say he stole three different vehicles and led them on a chase twice.

Around 7:15 Tuesday morning, Auburn and Indiana State Police were trying to locate a Ford truck that was stolen from LaGrange County.  The suspect, later identified as Bruce Sheehan, 34, was able to elude officers in an initial pursuit. He abandoned the stolen truck in Steuben County where investigators said he then stole a Dodge Durango. A short time later, a black Volvo was reported stolen from West Fox Lake Road. The Dodge Durango was found at the Fox Lake location.

An Auburn Police K-9 unit was positioned at the I-69 and State Road 8 crossover near the 329 mile marker and noticed a southbound Volvo matching the description. The registration confirmed the vehicle as stolen.  According to police, Sheehan recklessly exited at the 326 mile marker and the officer tried to pull him over. Sheehan continued west on County Road 56 where he traveled left of center several times and forced oncoming motorists off the road.

The 6.5 mile pursuit, which reached top speeds of 75 miles per hour and lasted approximately five to eight minutes, ended when Sheehan lost control of the stolen car and crashed at County Roads 7A and 9 in DeKalb County. After a short foot pursuit, Officer George Gensic and K-9 Paco took Sheehan into custody without injury.
