DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Emergency personnel responded to the 17000 block of Campbell Road in DeKalb County Monday afternoon just before 3 after receiving a call on a traumatic injury, according to a police dispatcher.

A neighbor told NewsChannel 15 that the incident happened at a small company that makes pallets.

The neighbor said a teenage Amish girl was working in an area where notches in the pallet are cut out when she got caught up in a saw. He said her arm was cut off above the elbow.

A helicopter was called to the scene in hopes of flying the girl to Indianapolis to reattach her arm, but the neighbor said the girl’s arm was too mangled to be reattached.

Police said they did not respond to the call and would not comment on the situation.
