Investigators are taking down members in a Fort Wayne gang

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police have arrested a gang member of a Fort Wayne gang. He’s not the only gang member to be arrested and charged with a crime.

Police arrested Trameil Jackson, 24, in connection to the Decatur Road shooting that happened on February 11. Investigators confirmed he was a member of the Fort Wayne street gang called “MOB”. He’s facing a felony and misdemeanor charges including attempted murder.

“We know who these people are,” said Michael Joyner, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson. “If we don’t know who they are, we will know who they are because people are going to talk.”

Jackson isn’t the only “MOB” gang member that has been arrested by police. Dontay Martin and Traneilous Jackson were also confirmed members of this gang. Martin and Traneilous Jackson were arrested and charged for shooting an ambulance with a stabbing victim inside back in September 2012. Traneilous Jackson pleaded guilty to a few charges against him and is now serving 60 years in prison. Martin went to trial and the jury found him guilty on all charges against him. He’s currently serving a 170 year sentence.

Karen Richards, Allen County Prosecutor, said charging someone for being affiliated with a gang comes into play when the judge sentences that individual. The years given is based on if the person is able to be rehabilitated.

“If you walk into the court with a long history of gang activity, the possibly of you being rehabilitated is probably less,” said Richards.

Joyner said there are other gangs that investigators are dealing with. He said some members of gangs will move around and form new gangs.

“Membership of these groups I have found interesting to change I think by individuals moving from one neighborhood to another then they assimilate into another group,” he said.

Joyner said police and investigators are working together to dismember any and all gangs that form and terrorize the city of Fort Wayne.

“We’re going to be your second shadow. You’re going to trip up and you’re going to pay dearly for this. And you better hope that we get to you before your rivals get to you. At one point or another, you will pay the price,” Joyner said.
