INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A 13-year-old boy is fighting for his life Sunday morning after being shot in the head at an Indianapolis birthday party, according to WANE’s sister station WISH.

It happened around midnight Sunday in the 3400-block of Aylesford Lane, which is in a neighborhood near 38th Street and Guion Road.

IMPD officials said there was a house party with a large amount of kids. There was a disturbance and some kids were asked to leave. As they were leaving, someone outside fired shots at the house and at least one of those bullets went into the house and hit the 13-year-old.

The boy was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in critical condition. He was still listed in critical condition as of 6 a.m. Sunday.

One woman at the scene said her sons were at the party at the time of the shooting.

“Oh my God I feel for her. I’m sorry her son got shot cause my son was right next to her son so it could have been my son as well so my heart goes out to her. I mean really it does. I mean wow,” said Yvette Lofton.

As of Sunday morning, detectives were talking to witnesses and putting together a suspect description.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IMPD at (317) 327-3087. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477). Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
