Maine (13-11) got off to a slow start, falling into an early 8-2 hole, with Rakeem Christmas, on assignment from the Indiana Pacers, scoring early and often for Fort Wayne (11-12) in the first few minutes of the game. RJ Hunter, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, poured in seven straight for the Red Claws to cut the Mad Ants’ lead to 21-17, and Coty Clarke dropped in four late in the quarter, but the visitors took a 26-23 lead after one.
John Lucas III scored a team high 21 points in his Mad Ants debut, but it was not enough as Fort Wayne fell to Sioux Falls 109-104.
Lucas brings with him to Fort Wayne a high level of NBA knowledge and experience after spending time with the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and the Utah Jazz.

Christmas has played in 17 games this season for the Ants. He’s averaging 16.9 points and 8.4 rebounds.
In 13 games with the Ants so far this year Whittington is averaging 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
