Woman shot on Gay Street dies

The victim has been identified as Dominque Mitchell, 21. Mitchell was found in the middle of the street next to a car, but they’ve not been able to get any good suspect information.

Man convicted in Indiana University student’s slaying

51-year-old Daniel Messel of Bloomington was found guilty in the beating death of 22-year-old Hannah Wilson of Fishers. Wilson’s body was found in April 2015 in a vacant lot about 10 miles from the Bloomington campus.

Babysitter charged with neglect and battery

According to court documents, a little boy had only been in the care of his babysitter for two days before he was rushed to the hospital. Formal charges were filed against 23-year-old Nicole Cakora Wednesday. She’s charged with neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury and battery of a minor causing serious bodily injury.

California serial killer ‘Grim Sleeper’ sentenced to death

The killings occurred over more than two decades during the crack epidemic, and community members complained that police didn’t seriously investigate because the victims were black and poor and many were drug users and prostitutes.
