Fort Wayne police closed Lake and Columbia avenues Tuesday afternoon while emergency personnel negotiated with a man who had barricaded himself inside a home. They were able to take him into custody shortly after 2 p.m.

Assistant coach accused of instructing referee hit resigns

An assistant Texas high school football coach accused of ordering players to hit a referee who allegedly hurled racial slurs during a game has resigned, and the head coach may also face discipline, administrators said Thursday.
