So far during this fall/winter season, we have not had any official measurable snow accumulations at the Fort Wayne International Airport. All indications are, however, that this is about to change.
While the potential for accumulating snow on Thursday is low in Fort Wayne, it is higher in areas to the north, where the potential exists for some lake effect snow showers. Most of Thursday’s lake effect snow, though, is likely to stay in Michigan.
From Friday night into Saturday, a weather system arrives that has the potential to bring accumulating snow across the entire region. It’s this snowfall that is likely to give Fort Wayne its first accumulation of the season. While it is still early, and this forecast will continue to fluctuate between now and then, up to 2″ of snow is looking likely in the Summit City by Saturday evening. Areas to the northwest could have totals anywhere in the 1″-3″ range (including all snow picked up from Thursday-Saturday).
By no means is this looking like a huge snowstorm, but it will bring a decent first dose of winter precip!
