Wednesday’s rain brings us above average

While more days than not have had measurable rain during this month of October, our rainfall total had been running below average.  After our Wednesday rainfall, that’s no longer the case.

Fort Wayne’s .54″ total brings us to 1.24″ of total rain month-to-date, which is 0.19″ above average.  This .54″ amount pales in comparison to South Bend’s 1.62″ rainfall, which set a daily rainfall record – beating the 1.43″ total from 10/11/1931.  If you’re curious, the Fort Wayne record for Oct.11 is significantly higher,  2.27″ back in 1949.

Here’s an updated rainfall total list from across the region.  The highest amounts were primarily received in northwest Indiana.
