The latest data shows Hurricane Nate just 180 south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Nate is a category 1 hurricane with wind speeds of 90 mph, but gusts up to 110 mph, most on the eastern side of the storm. Nate is forecast to strengthen to category 2 status before making landfall overnight along the Mississippi Gulf Coast – not fall from New Orleans. The biggest impacts from Nate will be storm surge, winds, and very heavy rainfall. After making landfall, Nate will race northeastward, ushered by the cold front that is crossing our area tonight.
The track of this storm keeps most of the moisture off to our south and east, but clouds and a few showers and storms may still be possible here on Monday, especially during the first half of the day. Keep checking back for updates!
