Adam Widener is the first one-man-band videojournalist inNewsChannel 15 history. He joined the news team in March 2010 andlooks forward to exploring the area.
Adam is no stranger to the Fort Wayne area, as the majority ofhis family lives in the “Summit City.”
Three days after graduating from Huntington University magna cumlaude in 2009, Adam packed his bags and moved to Clarksburg, WestVirginia for his first reporting job. He was the 11:00anchor/reporter for CBS affiliate WDTV out of Bridgeport, WestVirginia. In his time at WDTV, he was an anchor, reporter,producer, videographer, writer, and editor. In West Virginia, Adaminterviewed many high-ranking political officials such as the U.S.Secretary of Labor, congressmen, and Governor Joe Manchin of themountain state.
In his time at Huntington University, Adam anchored a Comcastcable show called Huntington Today, conducting interviews withvarious city officials. His senior year at the university, Adamproduced HTV news, which took a gold in the “TV Newscast College”category for the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters.
Adam is an Indiana native from New Whiteland, Indiana, a suburbon the south side of Indianapolis. After his short stint in themountain state of West Virginia, he’s glad to be back in thebeautiful fields of hoosier country.
Meeting new people and telling their stories thrills Adam mostabout working in the news business. A spring 2009 internship atWANE-TV sparked his love for news and he’s glad to be back at thestation that helped jump-start his career.
In his spare time Adam loves being around friends and family,doing things outside, and looks forward to getting involved in thecommunity. He plays tennis, ultimate frisbee, runs, and hasrecently taken up golf.
