FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A man is dead after a shooting outside of a home on Fort Wayne’s southeast side mid-afternoon Thursday.
Fort Wayne Police were called around 3:45 p.m. to an address at 4105 Lillie St., just west of McMillen Park, on a report of a shooting there. Once police were on scene, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the victim as 29-year-old Christopher Floyd Finley of Fort Wayne. An autopsy showed Finley died of gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner’s office said.
Officer John Chambers with the Fort Wayne Police Department said investigators believe a suspect walked up to Finley and opened fire. Detectives were talking with witnesses. Officers had Lillie Street in the area closed to traffic with crime scene tape.
Police have made no arrests in regards to the shooting and don’t have a description of the suspect.
