Man in critical condition after crashing head-on into tree

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man was critically hurt after slamming his pickup truck into a tree Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 8:00 a.m. in the 2700 block of E. Capital Ave.

According to Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer Mark Bieker, the man was found inside the truck after the crash. He was taken to the hospital seriously hurt but was later downgraded to critical condition.

Investigators determined the truck was west on E. Capitol Ave. when it left the road and hit the tree in the front yard of a home.
