Bicyclist struck, critically hurt on Calhoun Street

Police are investigating a hit-and-run at Calhoun and Killea.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating after a man was critically hurt Tuesday night.

Police were called around 9:15 p.m. to Calhoun Street near Killea Street for a hit-and-run crash with injuries.

Investigators told NewsChannel 15 they found a man in the middle of the street. FWPD Spokesman Officer Jeremy Webb said a man on bicycle had left a nearby liquor store and was struck by a vehicle. Webb said investigators are not sure if the man was crossing Calhoun or riding down the street.

Either way, the vehicle that struck that man continued on and did not stop.

Officers taped off an between Killea and Esmond Street to investigate.

Webb said police searched the immediate area but could not find a vehicle that might have been involved. Police have not provided information about the vehicle that may have struck the man.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The incident is under investigation.
