Make Music Day encourages people to appreciate music

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The longest day of the year is the perfect day for music. The summer solstice annually is Make Music Day worldwide. People in Fort Wayne joined the fun starting at 11 am. Freimann Square was flooded with drums, guitars and song. During all the fun people also got to learn a little bit.

The events were free and you didn’t have to be an expert. Plus all ages can play and you didn’t have to be an expert. “I love Make Music Day. It’s a great event. It brings the community together and it gets the kids exposed to music and music is a gift for everyone,” Ali Dencklau with Music Together said.

Celebrated around the world, the music brings communities together, offering music almost everywhere you look even places that don’t normally offer live acts. Fort Wayne was no exception, people came from throughout the city to celebrate music together.

“It’s definitely really cool to bring everyone together to do something they love create play and share music,” Holly Lentine with Make Music Day said.
