Motorcyclist killed after running light, hitting car

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man is dead in the second motorcycle crash in 12 hours.

The incident happened at the intersection of W. Coliseum Blvd. and Sherman Blvd. around 4:00 a.m. Saturday.

Police at the scene told NewsChannel 15, it appears two motorcycles were westbound on Coliseum and noticed the traffic light changing. One biker stopped. The other sped up.

The second motorcyclist collided with the rear of a car turning from Sherman to Coliseum. He was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified him as 25-year-old Ty Louis Quinonez of Butler. He died of blunt force trauma due to a motor vehicle crash, the office said.

Two people were in the car and were not hurt. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The intersection remained open while police investigated, but lanes of traffic were reduced.

The incident is under investigation.
