FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne Police have arrested a 62-year-old Fort Wayne man on allegations he brutally beat a woman in a Main Street parking lot early Wednesday.

Patrick Scheck faces two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of aggravated battery after police were called around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday to a parking lot in the 1500 block of West Main Street for a disturbance.

Police said an officer that arrived at the scene saw a man – allegedly Sheck – on top of a woman in the parking lot. The man took off and the officer chased after him and eventually caught up to the man and placed him into the custody.

Other officers found the woman and said she was in a semi-conscious state. The woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition but downgraded to critical condition with head and neck injuries. Police said later Wednesday that she’d been updated to serious condition again.

Police are working to determine the relationship between Sheck and woman or if they even knew each other.

Sheck could face additional charges, police said.

The incident is under investigation by FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
