FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Rescue Mission is preparing to serve a free meal to what it says could be a record-setting number of people on Christmas.
Anyone in need of a meal on Sunday, Dec. 25 is welcome to visit The Rescue Mission along West Superior Street. Dinner will be served by more than 200 volunteers from noon to 3 p.m.
The Christmas meal comes after The Rescue Mission’s Thanksgiving meal that turned out to be one of its largest ever, the shelter said.
“There are many stories of people coming to us for a meal, but finding something more,” said Richard Cummins, Executive Vice President of Operations at The Rescue Mission. “What they find is compassionate staff and volunteers who want to help them find Real Change. Hope begins with a meal, and that’s what this meal is all about.”
The meal comes through donated food items from area individuals and groups and cash donations.
