FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Sunday night’s snowfall didn’t stop families from going to the 20-acre St. Joe Christmas Tree Farm to find their perfect tree. The owners, Mike and Judy Reifenberg, love giving families a fun holiday bonding experience, encouraging people to “come to the farm and enjoy.”
Xavier and Andrea Seranni brought their newborn girl, Mariella, to the tree farm to help pick a tree for her first Christmas. It was their first time buying a real tree.
“We had a family debate about whether we wanted to get a real tree or a fake tree,” Xavier explained. “Real tree won out. Mariella voted for the real tree, so that’s why we’re out picking a tree tonight.”
Andrea said growing up with allergies made her more comfortable with fake trees.
“But I have to admit that the experience of coming in the snow and picking out a tree all together and the hot chocolate and all that has been awesome,” she said.
Xavier said next year he’s taking their new family tradition one step further. Rather than buying a pre-cut tree, he plans to cut down their Christmas tree himself.
