FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Komets defeated the Utah Grizzlies 4-2 at the Coliseum on Sunday.
The Komets lit the lamp first with a goal from David Friedmann. Shawn Szydlowski followed in the second period taking advantage of a penalty shot. Trevor Cheek scored on the power play to give the Komets a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. Szydlowski scored his second of the night in a chippy third period. The Grizzlies scored two late goals but it was not enough to overcome the late deficit.
The Komets improve to 11-5-2. They travel to Toledo on Tuesday. Sitting in third place in the standings Komets currently trail the Walleye by six points.
