STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A two-state investigation has landed a rural Angola man in jail on several charges.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were contacted Thursday by the Williams County Sheriff’s Department in Ohio to assist with a burglary investigation.
Investigators said they were asked to go to a home in the 9400 block of U.S. 20 in York Township. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and conducted a search of a detached garage. Inside they found stolen items during a Williams County burglary.
Investigators also found items associated with the use of marijuana.
Police said 31-year-old Jonathan A. Depew, the homeowner, was arrested on felony charges of auto theft/receiving stolen auto parts, illegal possession of a legend drug, and maintaining a common nuisance. Depew was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Depew is being held in the Steuben County Jail on $12,500 bond.
Indiana State Police assisted both sheriff’s departments.
The incident is under investigation.
