FWPD: Man shot during home invasion in good condition

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man was shot during a home invasion late Wednesday night, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Officers were called to 2408 Gay Street around 11:50 p.m. for a reported shooting. The home is located inside the Renaissance Pointe neighborhood.

According to police, at least one person kicked in the back door to the home and started shooting. A man inside was shot in the arm. The victim was taken to a hospital in good condition, according to police.

Investigators said the victim also had a gun but they do not believe he returned fire. Police believe the suspect or suspects only shot a few times inside the home.

Other people inside the home, including children, were not hurt. Police said the other residents were in the front of the home and didn’t see the shooter or shooters.

Police are hoping to speak with the victim to get more information. As of early Thursday morning they did not have any suspect information.

The incident is under investigation.
