8 arrested in massive FWPD Gang Unit bust

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two men and six juveniles were arrested early Sunday morning after a massive bust by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Gang and Violent Crimes Unit.

According to investigators, members of the unit were conducting surveillance on 6016 Guild Drive. Officers received tips the home was an active gang house for the “150” gang.

During surveillance, detectives observed heavy foot and vehicle traffic at the house, according to FWPD Sergeant Gary Hensler. Detectives also recognized several members associated with the “150” gang. Three people were also observed getting into a vehicle. Hensler said one of the subjects, a juvenile, was known to have an active warrant.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but a brief chase led the fleeing suspects back to the home on Guild Avenue. Officers apprehended the three people in the vehicle and also saw someone toss a handgun from the vehicle. Five more people inside the home on Guild Avenue were also detained.

During the execution of a search warrant on Guild Drive, police recovered two 5.56 caliber assault rifles, one which was reported stolen – a pistol, 35 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of heroin, 24 grams of marijuana, 40 ecstasy pills, codeine, large amounts of ammunition, narcotics paraphernalia, and $3,800 in cash.

Six juvenile boys were arrested on charges of dangerous possession of a handgun, visiting a common nuisance, resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, resisting law enforcement fleeing on foot, possession of marijuana, and active warrants.

Two men were also arrested: Sean Nobles for dealing cocaine while armed, dealing heroin, possession of controlled substances, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of stolen property (firearm). Riakos Barker was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of cocaine.

The incident is still under investigation.
