Project honors 12 women who have faced challenges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A project called ‘You Go Girl!’ awards 12 women per year with a free makeover and photo shoot provided by area community businesses. As of the month of November, the project has officially awarded 12 women for the 2016 year.

Mary Byrd and Casey Brothers are the owners of Le Petite Photography Studios and designers of the project.

“It’s taught us a lot about ourselves, it’s made us aware of issues that we were otherwise not aware of,” Byrd said about the winners. “It’s helping women tell their story and encourage other women who may be going through the same issue.”

Brothers said all the women for the 2016 year have had a positive outlook on their circumstances. Byrd said it was important to take what you are going through and turn it into a blessing.

For the month of November, the project honored two young women, one who is in remission from leukemia and the other fighting thyroid cancer and cerebral palsy.
