Florence Henderson honored with special tree dedication

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Embassy Theatre is dedicating a tree to popular TV mom, star of the iconic sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” and Indiana native, Florence Henderson after she died Thursday evening.

Henderson was born in Dale, an hour north of Evansville, in 1934. She sang 23 times during the Indianapolis 500 pre-race festivities and served as Grand Marshal for the historic 100th Running of the Race.

Indiana Motor Speedway (IMS) issued a statement about Henderson’s passing, stating that Henderson has a profound impact with her contribution to the Indianapolis 500.

Embassy Theatre’s dedication tree is themed “The 1960’s COLOR TV Revolution.” It features images from popular 1960’s TV shows. The decorated tree took first place in the 2016 tree decorator awards, according to a press release from Embassy Theatre.

The tree dedication is part of the Festival of Trees event, which continues daily through November 30. The schedule is available at Embassy Theatre.
