Two teens arrested, accused of burglarizing storage units

STEUBEN CO., Ind. (WANE) Two teenagers are in jail and a juvenile is in custody after officers found items stolen from storage units Thursday morning.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 1 a.m. on a report of a suspicious vehicle and two people walking around with bolt cutters near the intersection of County Road 200 W and County Road 200 N. When they arrived, they found a pickup truck parked between two storage buildings with numerous items in the bed of the truck.

Police also found multiple storage units with cut padlocks near the doors. When they checked the units, a man exited one of the nearby units and surrendered.

He told officers there were two other people there, who were later located.

19-year-old Braxton Easton and 18-year-old Stephani Hartley were taken into custody. A 17-year-old was also apprehended.

A total of 12 storage units were burglarized. Easton and Hartley were booked into the Steuben County Jail on 12 counts of burglary. The 17-year-old was taken to a juvenile detention facility.
