Festival of Gingerbread is a feast for the imagination

The Festival of Gingerbread

Fort Wayne, Ind (WANE) – If you need a hit of sugar this season, or just want to see some amazing, edible creations while supporting the History Center, plan to visit this season during the annual Festival of Gingerbread.  It officially opens on Friday, November 25 and has daily hours until Sunday, December 11 (It will be closed on Thanksgiving Day).  Entries are made by local professional bakers as well as adults, families and youth.  Admission is $6 per adult, $4 per youth or senior (free admission for kids age two and younger).  The History Center is located at 302 East Berry Street in downtown Fort Wayne.

Festival Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, Noon to 5:00 p.m.

Special activities are planned on weekend afternoons.

  • “Handprint Reindeer Puppet” November 26, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (additional $1 per person)
  • “Legend of the Gingerbread Ornament” November 27, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (additional $1 per person)
  • “Free Night” on November 29, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • “Santa Claus at the History Center” December 3, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  • “Storytelling” December 4, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  • “Science of Sugary Structures” December 10, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (additional $3 per person)
  • “Cookie Decorating Party” December 11, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (additional $1 per person)
