Indiana Gov.-elect Holcomb names chief of staff

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -€” Republican Gov.-elect Eric Holcomb has picked a former governor’s chief of staff to take the same position in his incoming administration.

Holcomb announced Monday his selection of Earl Goode to become his chief of staff in the governor’s office. It’s the first prominent appointment for Holcomb, who replaces Vice President-elect Mike Pence as governor Jan. 9.

Goode worked in the administration of former Gov. Mitch Daniels as chief of staff for over six years. He is a former utility company president and the current co-chair of a non-profit managing Holcomb’s transition.

In a statement, Holcomb cited Goode’s “steady hand and voice of reason.”

Goode is currently vice chairman of the Indiana Motorsports Commission. He’s previously served as president of the Indianapolis Capitol Improvement Board.
