FORT WAYNE, Inc. (WANE) – Fort4Fitness runners are getting ready for the holidays. Saturday, they got a sneak peak at Blue Jacket’s annual Fantasy of Lights as part of Fort4Fintesses new winter 5k.
Organizers report that 1,500 people crossed the inaugural Fantasy of Lights 5k finish line. Runners got to see the spectacle’s 85 light displays before they’re open to the public.
Blue Jacket Inc is a local organization with a mission to help disadvantaged people get back in the job force. They teamed up with Fort4Fitness to promote second chances, running, and the holiday spirit.
“Employment matters for us,” said Blue Jacket Executive Director Tony Hudson. “Employment really changes someone’s life trajectory with people who are homeless, people who have criminal backgrounds, people who are at risk youth who have never had a job before in their lives. It’s a game changer.”
Blue Jacket’s Fantasy of Lights opens to the public at Franke Park starting November 22. It’s $5 per car Sunday through Thursday and $10 per car on Friday and Saturday. It runs through December 31.
Hudson said every 125 vehicles will change one person’s life.
