Komets shoot down Mallards on return from road trip

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – After playing five straight games on the road the Komets returned to War Memorial Coliseum in full force on Friday downing the Mallards 5-1.

Shawn Szydlowski scored his seventh goal of the season late in the first period to give the Ks at 1-0 lead. Trevor Cheek would add a second period goal to make it 2-0.

Kyle Thomas, Jason Binkley, and Cheek all scored in the final frame.

Eric Hartzell saved 31 of 32 shots for the Komets.

The Komets are off until Thursday when they host their annual Thanksgiving Day home game against Kalamazoo at 7:30 p.m.
