MONROE, Ind. (WANE) – Adams Central saw a fantastic postseason run come to an end Friday night in Monroe as the 1A no. 6 Flying Jets fell to 1A no. 3 Pioneer 22-8 at semi-state.
Adams Central ends the season with a 12-2 overall record.
Pioneer scored late in the first quarter on a Jack Kiser keep to take an 8-0 lead after the 2-point conversion.
The Panthers went up 16-0 in the second quarter when Kiser hit Keith Nies for a 16-yard TD.
Adams Central’s Andrew Hammond would connect with Logan Macklin for a 37-yard strike down to the one-yard line that led to an Andrew Hammond QB keeper for a score. Macklin would add the 2-point conversion to make it a 16-8 Pioneer lead at the half.
In the third Kiser would scamper 50 yards for a score, setting the final at 22-8.
Kiser finished with 24 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns while Nies added 16 carries for 111 yards. Drew Schultz led AC with 15 carries for 83 yards, but Pioneer out-rushed the Jets 315 yards to 160 and out-gained Adams Central with 342 yards of total offense to AC’s 202.
