Police find evidence of dogfighting after serving warrant

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Late Friday morning officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team and detectives with the Vice and Narcotics Division served a search warrant in the 2300 block of 25th Avenue as part of a drug dealing investigation.

While performing a search of the residence, detectives found evidence of dogfighting in addition to cocaine and marijuana according to a news release issued Friday afternoon.

With the help of officers from Animal Care & Control, four pit bulls were removed from the residence. One of the dogs showed extensive scarring around its head area which is consistent with injuries suffered from repeated dog fights.

Three people were arrested and police say one of them tried to swallow the cocaine and marijuana.

They face the following charges:

    Maintaining a Common Nuisance
    Animal Fighting Contests
    Possession of Animal Fighting Paraphernalia
    Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon
    Possession of Marijuana
  • Leslie Anne Dennis
    Dealing Cocaine or Narcotic Drug
  • Stanley Bristow
    Maintaining a Common Nuisance
