Alcohol believed to be a factor in DeKalb County crash

WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE)  An Auburn man was injured after crashing his car early Friday morning in DeKalb County.

Dustin E. Harlan, 34, was driving his Toyota Solara south on County Road 39 at around 2:45 a.m. when he was unable to negotiate a curve while approaching State Road 427 in Waterloo according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

Harlan’s Solara ran off the south side of State Road 427 and hit a telephone pole which caused the car to spin.  He suffered lacerations to his arm and head and told emergency responders he had pain in his shoulder and one of his legs.

Police believe Harlan had been drinking.  The news release did not indicate what charges Harlan might face.
