Rescue Mission gets the word out during National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week

November 14-18 is National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week.  To help raise awareness, the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission hosted an open house for the media Wednesday to learn more about their 4 programs.

Life House provides housing and basic needs plus three meals a day for homeless men. Charis House provides short-term and long-term housing for women and children. Restoration House provides short term and long term housing for men.
Treasure House is the thrift store whose funds go to support the Rescue Mission. There were several other community partners there as well.

One resident who spoke to NewsChannel 15 said, “I was just hopeless when I came in. I was a broken man. And to say that the Rescue Mission has fixed me is not enough. You know we need more programs like this here.”
