Construction causes evening rush backup on I-69

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Construction on a five-mile stretch of Interstate 69 just south of the GM plant in southern Allen County caused “significant” traffic backups Wednesday evening.

Indiana State Police said Wednesday that construction between the 291 and 296 milemarkers on southbound Interstate 69 badly slowed traffic. The stretch is just south of the GM plant.

Police said the traffic backup extended the entire five mile stretch at one point.

Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route or expect “significant delays” in the area for the duration of the project.

The Indiana State Police reported a significant traffic backup on Interstate 69 southbound, between the 296-291 mile markers, a few miles south of the GM plant on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016.
