FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead senior Karissa McLaughlin is among the nation’s elite as the basketball star is one of 50 players nationwide on the Naismith Award preseason watch list.
The award goes to the country’s top high school basketball player at the end of the season.
McLaughlin – who signed with the University of Florida last week – averaged 24.8 points per game last year. She helped lead Homestead to a 26-3 overall record and a 4A regional title.
The Spartans at 1-0 so far this season and host 3A no. 9 Concordia on Thursday.
