Victim ID’d following arrest in fatal 4-vehicle crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) An arrest has been made in multi-vehicle crash along Coliseum Boulevard Tuesday that left one man dead.

Brody Levi Brunson Sr., 30, of Fort Wayne was booked on a single preliminary charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, related to a Tuesday crash on Coliseum Boulevard at Parnell Avenue.

Fort Wayne Police on Wednesday said Brunson ran off on foot after a four-vehicle crash at the intersection around 1:30 p.m. According to investigators at the scene, a vehicle was speeding and slammed into a stopped vehicle at the red light.

The driver of the car that was hit was in cardiac arrest when officers arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office as Rickey D. Reisinger, 62, of Fort Wayne. Blunt force trauma was ruled as the cause of death.

Two other vehicles stopped at the light were also hit, but no one in those cars were hurt.

Police said after the impact, Brunson and a passenger in the initial car ran from the scene through retail parking lots.

Several minutes after the crash, police received a 911 call from a Brunson, man who said his car had been stolen. When officers met with him, they realized he matched the description of the driver seen leaving the scene of the crash and detained him.

Police said Wednesday that they found surveillance video from a nearby retail store that showed that man – Brunson – fleeing from the crash scene.

The crash left heavily traveled Coliseum Boulevard’s eastbound lanes closed for several hours while police investigated and crews cleaned the wreckage.
