LAGRANGE, Ind. (WANE) Police made an arrest in a hit-and-run last week that left two children and a horse hurt.
Just before 7 p.m. Friday, two juveniles were riding a horse in the area of C.R. 200 South and 600 West when a Volkswagen Passat hit them and drove off. The car was a 2006-2010 model and was potentially missing a passenger side mirror, police said.
The children suffered superficial injuries in the crash and were medically cleared at the scene. The horse suffered only minor injuries.
After the crash, police asked for the public’s help to locate the car and driver. A Facebook post by the sheriff’s department reached more than 10,000 people.
Early Tuesday, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department was tipped off about a vehicle and a suspect that was possibly involved the crash. LaGrange County Sheriff’s deputies followed up on the tip and found the vehicle and the driver on Tuesday. The department did not say where.
Police arrested Mark R. Gledhill, 31, of Syracuse on charges of Failure to stop after an accident involving injury, a Level 6 Felony; Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 6 Felony; and Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor.
