Police were called to the Dollar General at 1915 E. Tillman Road around 1 p.m. Monday. There, police learned that a man armed with a knife robbed the store.

A clerk told police that the man, dressed in light tan pants and a tan sweater, came into the store and walked around for a few minutes before he went behind the counter and demanded money, according to a police report. The clerk told police the man had a knife.

The man then ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Surveillance images released by police on Tuesday show a black man, roughly 25-30 years old, with a black knit stocking cap on. The man’s sweatshirt had a unique geometric design on it.

On Wednesday, then police said they believe the same suspect actually stole a hat and a knife from the Family Dollar store across the street before he went to the Dollar General store. Police said the man wore the hat and used the knife in the Dollar General hold-up.

Anyone who might recognize this suspect is asked to call Crime stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).
