OSSIAN, Ind. (WANE) – According to the Superintendant of Northern Wells Community Schools, Scott Mills, what had been reported as a potential bomb threat at Ossian Elementary School is likely just a student hoax.
The Wells County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a reported bomb threat at Ossian Elementary School on the east side of the building, near the 4th-grade area. The school called police around 3:30 p.m. to report the threat, school officials said.
Superintendant Mills told NewsChannel 15 that at approximately 3:15 p.m. a student found what appeared to be a scribble on a bathroom stall that said “I plant id a boom in Room 18.” The student told a teacher, and the teacher and the principal then searched Room 18 after evacuating the children.
“We are very confident it’s a student hoax but we are taking precautionary measures to make sure we sweep the building,” Mills said.
Students were released from school around 3:30 p.m.
