US 27 back open after wrong-way crash

ADAMS CO., Ind (WANE) A serious crash involving a van and garbage truck shut down part of US 27 for several hours just outside Decatur Monday morning. First responders were called the crash at about 6:30 a.m. on US 27 near W 900 N.us-27-trash-truck-2

Police told NewsChannel 15 the garbage truck was driving the wrong-way on US 27 North when the crash happened. The van ended up in the median of the highway.

Officials at the scene said the truck driver wasn’t hurt. The driver in the van was taken to a hospital, but officials didn’t know his condition. A medical helicopter was headed to the scene, but it had to stay grounded because of fog.
