Annual Adoption Celebration provides resources, hope

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Hundreds of people attended the 18th Annual Adoption Celebration at Wallen Baptist Church.

The event provides a fun and safe place for people to learn about adoption or providing foster care. Those in attendance and several adoption agencies help support one another through conversations, by providing resources, and sharing experiences.

A photo booth, photo wall, face painting, kids’ activities and refreshments were provided.

The event is made possible by Star 88.3FM.

The event coincides with National Adoption Month which is November of every year and has been since President Clinton made the proclamation in 1995.

National Adoption Day is Nov. 19.

According to national statistics, more than 100,000 children in the U.S. are awaiting adoption in foster care. The average foster care child waits three years to be adopted.

Each year, more than 23,000 children age out of foster care with no permanent home or family.
