FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Concordia and Garrett punched their ticket to regional with wins on Friday night.
In an all-SAC sectional title game in 3A it was 3A no. 7 Concordia besting 3A no. 15 Bishop Luers 45-22 at Luersfield. Peterson Kerlegrand paced the Concordia offense by rushing 24 times for 161 yards and four touchdowns. Concordia quarterback Peter Morrison threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns – all of those scores going to senior Mark Mallers. Bishop Luers quarterback Norman Knapke was 17-for-32 passing for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. J’Lyn Charlton led Luers on the ground with 15 carries for 72 yards and a TD. Luers ends the season with a 6-6 record while Concordia will host 3A no. 4 West Lafayette next Friday for a regional crown.
The 3A sectional 26 title belongs to 3A no. 17 Garrett as the Railroaders outlasted Jimtown 29-26 at Memorial Field. Ben Purdy hauled in eight passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns to pace Garrett as quarterback Tanner Burns was 13-for-15 for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Cam Smith racked up 20 carries for 78 yards to lead the Garrett ground game. The Railroaders hit the road next Friday to play at 3A no. 2 Mishawaka Marian.
