School collects 4,833 socks for charity

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – 6th grader Colton Ehle at St. Peter’s Lutheran School started a unique fundraising event known as Socktober this year. This year, Ehle asked his teacher, Mr. Kopp if the school beat the total from last year if he would work from the roof for the entire school day. Mr. Kopp agreed.

The school collected 4,833 socks this year and Mr. Kopp worked from the roof on Friday morning, beginning at 7:40 a.m. All the socks will all be donated to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.

Ehle’s brother and sister, who have since graduated started the event last year. 3,090 socks were collected.
