FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Indiana Department of Transporation (INDOT) announced Thursday that motorists should expected rolling traffic slowdowns on Interstate 69 throughout the day on Sunday, November 6, between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m., weather permitting.
The series of traffic slowdowns are needed to allow contractors for American Electric Power to remove electric lines over the interstate, between CR E 300 N and CR E 400 N in Huntington County. Law enforcement will assist the slowdowns, which will be on I-69 southbound from mile marker 294 to 290 and on I-69 northbound from mile marker 287 to 291. Traffic is expected to slow down to 10 mph or below, which will create traffic voids to allow for the safe removal of the power lines, according to a press release from INDOT.
INDOT recommended that drivers may want to find an alternative route. If weather is unfavorable, a new date will be scheduled for the removal.
