FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women’s basketball team used a dominating performance on both sides of the court to capture the Northern Lakes Insurance Tournament Title with a 67-47 victory over crosstown rival Saint Francis on Saturday evening.
Keanna Gary led the Warriors with a massive double-double of 21 points and 24 rebounds while shooting 10-13 from the field and recording three blocks and two steals. Haley Cook added 17 points, six rebounds and three assists while Taylor Seiss add 11 points. Linsey Masnari added seven rebounds and four points off the bench.
Tech would feed Gary early and often as the Fort Wayne native scored the first nine points of the game for the Orange and Black as they ended the first quarter on an 18-10 run. The Cougars would outscore the Warriors 15-14 in the second quarter to pull within 32-25.
Cook would start the second half off with a three to kick start a 14-0 run for the visitors and started to take control of the game as they ended the quarter up 51-33 and cruised through the remaining 10 minutes to cap their weekend with a 2-0 record.
Gary and Cook would garner All-Tournament Team honors while Gary was named Tournament MVP.
Tech (2-0) opens their home slate on Thursday when they host in-state rival Taylor at 7 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
