FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Reigning 5A state champs Snider opened sectional play with a huge win over Concord.
Top-ranked Snider dominated their first game of the postseason with a 56-3 win over Concord. The defense and special teams combined to score three touchdowns in the rout that included an Austin France pick-six, a Taj Starks pick-six, and a field goal blocked by Dom Slaughter and returned by Damarius Morgan. On offense Michael Haupert had five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. The junior quarterback had 237 yards of total offense. Mac Hippenhammer had 86 receiving yards with two touchdowns. Snider will play Goshen who defeated North Side 49-7.
In the other 5A sectional 10 game 11th-ranked Goshen defeated North Side 49-7 at Chambers Field. The Legends finish the season 1-9 overall in Mike Cochran’s first year as head coach. Kalen Desrosiers had four receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown to lead North Side. Goshen quarterback C.J. Detwiler threw for 306 yards and five touchdowns and also ran in another score. Goshen will host Snider next Friday in the sectional title game.
In 5A sectional 12 play Huntington North was knocked out of the playoffs by 5A no. 9 Kokomo 24-0. The Vikings end the year with a 2-8 record in coach Rick Burnau’s second season.
