1 hurt, 1 detained in crash on South Clinton

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – One person was hurt and another person was placed in handcuffs after a crash south of downtown early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at South Clinton Street and Creighton Avenue around 2:45 a.m.

Investigators believe an SUV crashed into a car at the intersection. One person in the car was trapped inside. They were removed by firefighters and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt, but was detained by police. Investigators believe alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.

After the crash the SUV ended up on the driver’s side door. Both vehicles came to a stop about 15 feet from the Lebamoff Reservoir.

The intersection of S. Clinton and Creighton was closed while the crash was cleaned up and police investigated.

The crash is under investigation.
