Salon holds costume event to fight cancer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Stylists at a Fort Wayne salon donned costumes to raise money to fight breast cancer.

Pin-Up Curls at 6222 Covington Road held a “Once Upon A Curl!” event Monday evening that featured games, trick-or-treating and raffle prizes – all while offering haircuts and styling. Proceeds from the event went to the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pin-Up Curls owner Erin Raber said the stylists at the salon enjoy dressing up for fun, so they figured they’d do it for a good cause.

“We just like to give back to the community,” said Pin-Up Curls owner Erin Raber. “One of our favorite foundations is Livestrong – we usually do something for them. But we wanted to do something for breast cancer this year.”

Raber said the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation was selected because one of her friends has plans to participate in the 59-mile walk to support the charity.
