Volunteers plant more than 250 trees in area parks and public spaces

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Friends of the Parks of Allen County invited citizens to partner with area park departments, businesses, neighborhoods, and community volunteers to plant new trees in area parks and public spaces during the annual Great Tree Canopy Comeback event.  More than 250 trees were planted in parks throughout the morning on Saturday.

Created in 2002, the Great Tree Canopy Comeback is the annual community tree planting day organized by volunteers with Friends of the Parks and area parks departments to combat the critical loss of trees.

Trees were planted in the following parks: Lions, McCormick, Weisser, Salomon Farm, Metea County Park and New Haven Parks’ Community Center.
